Hyderabad: The much talked about Group-I main
exams concluded peacefully on Monday. The State government and the
Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) had many apprehensions
whether the exams would be conducted smoothly in Telangana with the
ongoing Sakala Janula Samme.
But, except for some stray incidents in Warangal and Hyderabad on the first day of the exam (September 25), no disturbances were reported during the remaining papers of the main exam. The APPSC authorities, who were very relieved with the peaceful conclusion of the exams, had announced that results would be declared within three months.
The attendance this time was ten percent higher when compared to the Group-1 exams conducted in 2007, officials said. With Group-1 exams’ conclusion, APPSC is now gearing up for preparations for Group-2 exams, slated for October 15-16. Group-1 mains was conducted for 198 posts in five centres namely Hyderabad, Warangal, Vijayawada, Tirupathi and Vizag.
Though 11, 504 candidates had got eligibility to appear in this exam, 8,424 candidates downloaded the hall tickets from the APPSC website.
