After GSLV failure, our Scientists need Success tonic now...
Scientists in the Shar Satish Dhawan Space Center, Sriharikota have been preparing for the launch of the PSLV C-16 on April 20. PSLV- Polar satellite Launch Vehicle will carry Resource Sat-2, Youthsat and X-Sat satellites on board. Resource Sat -2 was built by Isro and is an advanced remote sensing satellite meant for study and management of natural resources.
Youthsat is a joint Indo-Russian satellite for stellar and atmospheric studies. X-Sat is a micro satellite for imaging applications and built by Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. According to the Shar, integration of all three satellites to the launcher has been successfully accomplished. Pre-launch and launch rehearsal procedures will be carried out after completion of the final phase of vehicle checkout operations.
The 54-hour long countdown is likely to begin at 4.12 am on April 18 for PSLV-C16 and the launching will take place at 10.12 am on April 20. The final decision related to countdown and launch will be taken by a mission board during a meeting scheduled for April 16.
