CTET application process to remain open till October 19, 2012
(Central Board of Secondary Education) will conduct the CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) on November 18, 2012. The board has decided to keep the registration process open so that registered applicants may make corrections if required between October 8 and 19, 2012.
The poor pass rate in CTET has been a major concern for CBSE. About 86% candidates failed in the first edition of the test and figures climbed upto 94% in the second edition.
One of the main reasons for this is that the minimum pass percentage required to qualify the exam is 60%. CBSE had revealed that around 8.38 lakh aspirants have applied for the third edition of the test. This is 20% less than 10.58 lakh aspirants who took the exam in January this year.
The first CTET was held in June 2011 when over 7 lakh candidates had appeared for it. As per new rules, from next academic year, CBSE schools across India will appoint teachers who have qualified CTET
